Privacy at Pencil Footy

Last updated: July 2026

Pencil Footy is a free browser game with no accounts, no passwords, and no personal profiles. This page explains, in plain language, everything the game stores.

What stays on your device

Your display name and your per-match play tokens are kept in your browser's local storage. They never identify you beyond the name you typed, and clearing your browser data removes them.

What we store on our servers

When you play an online match, we store the match itself: the team names you picked, the display names typed by each player, where the dots were placed, and the strokes drawn each turn. That is what lets your opponent's browser replay your moves. Solo and pass-&-play matches never leave your device.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people play and which features they use (pages visited, matches started and finished, shares). This data is aggregated; we don't use it to identify individuals.

Advertising

To keep Pencil Footy free, we may show ads from Google between matches (never during play). Ad providers may use cookies or similar technologies subject to your consent where required; you can learn more and manage preferences at Google Ads Settings.

Player names

Squad lists use footballers' surnames as plain text for flavor. Pencil Footy is an unofficial fan project and is not affiliated with FIFA, any federation, league, or player.
